What are "Core Classes"? Thank you for any answers you can give me-RS
Dear RS,
English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language are considered "academic" core subjects. If your core grades are A's and B's great...if you have any D's get into your high school advisor, NOW, before it is too late.
Keep working towards your goals,

What kind of schools offer athletic scholarships? Thanks, B
Dear player B,
NCAA Division 1, NCAA Division 2, NAIA , NJCAA Division 1 , and NJCAA Division 2 can offer athletic scholarships. Also you should be aware that individual colleges and conferences have their own athletic scholarship rules and policies.
Best of luck!

How do I let the NCAA know my ACT/SAT scores? Dear Student:
When taking the ACT or SAT, request test scores to be sent to the eligibility center (the code is "9999"). This is done when you register online.
Good Luck!

Hi What questions to ask on unoffical visit? Daughter is a jr in high school. What questions not to ask? Thanks RF
Dear RF:
You can follow the guidelines of unofficial or official visits by reading Cathi Aradi's "Preparing to Play Softball at the Collegiate Level", and please follow the NCAA recruiting rules as well.
As a mom, I would have my daughter asked questions during her visit regarding things that concern her school life as a student/athlete.
On one of our daughter's visit to a school, she was able to actual stay overnight in the dorm with the a softball player and her roommate. She was able to have all meals, attend classes, watch a men's basketball game, visit the training room, step onto the softball field, and tour the campus and city. This gave her a good in site to see the campus life at that college.
She asked the coach the following:
How much study hall time is given to athletes per week (mandatory)?
Is there free tutoring?
Do student/athletes get first pick in their classes?
What happens if I get injured?
How many players go on road trips (away games)?
Is there fund raising requirements?
What is paid (uniforms, cleats, bats, gloves, etc.)?
The coach may mention to the student/athletes how much they can give in athletic funding. If not, ask . . . it will help narrow your college choices!
During this same time frame, the parents should be in contact with the admission and financial aid representatives for assistance in regards to early action admission and financial funding.
The coach has a certain time frame that he/she can spend with your daughter during a visit, so a well planned visit on the part of the coach and staff is important.
If the college offers a Student/Athlete Recruit Day, try to attend!
Hope this information was helpful, please feel free to contact us again!
Best of luck with your daughter's future endeavors!
